Mediterranean Veggie Wrap

I've been changing my eating habits to be healthier than the past. So far it's been working great! I cut out soda and limit my sugar intake. I also try to cut out gluten-or at least use whole wheat when eating grains. Nothing too crazy yet, just trying to get the hang of things.

This has been my go to lunch. I love it! It's sweet but salty. It has a nice crunch to it and the flavor is great!

Ingredients:

1 Whole Wheat Wrap
Hummus-I like to mix mine with minced garlic
1 handful of spring garden salad mix
sliced cucumbers
diced tomatoes
pomegranate kernels
bell pepper cut into strips

Directions:

Spread the hummus on the whole wheat wrap (I use about a tablespoon or so). Add the veggies and fruit. Wrap it up and enjoy!

Let me know how you like it!

I'm a Mormon I Know It I Live It I Love It Stickers

I am teaching all of the YW this Sunday. I chose to teach on How to be in the world but not of the world? I was reading through THIS talk given in the suggested outline from the Come Follow Me curriculum.
There were two principles given in that talk that help us be involved in the world in a positive way:

1. Let people know you are a committed Latter Day Saint.
2. Be confident about and live your beliefs.

The saying I'm a Mormon I know it I live it I love it kept sticking out in my mind.

I decided to discuss the talk in my lesson and then give the girls a challenge using these stickers I created. I want them to choose a time during the week to wear the stickers. I will tell them that I hope they choose a time where they don't feel as confident or somewhere where they struggle to stand up in what they believe in. By wearing the sticker I know it can help them be in the world but not of the world.

Feel free to print and share with your YW. I used a full sheet label and just cut the circles out.

I also created this handout to go with lesson as well.

Chopped YW Activity

For our latest Young Women Activity, the girls really wanted to do a "Chopped" competition. They have been asking for quite some time, so we finally put it together.

We did it a little different than the show though. We only did a dessert round and no one was chopped. There was an award for every team. Here are the details:

First, I divided them into four groups. They didn't get to choose their groups. I had them draw their colored groups from a bucket. I had a dishware set that included two plates and one bowl in four colors. That is the way we identified the groups.

Next, I told them the rules. They had 30 minutes to make a dessert. They were told they would be given four mystery ingredients. They had to use those four mystery ingredients and then they could use anything I had on the counter. If they needed something else they could ask and if I had it my pantry or fridge, they could use it.

There were special conditions though. I had a little trivia game before we began. The trivia game was to give some penalties to other teams. If they answered the question correctly, they could choose the punishment for another team. Every team had to have a punishment. *see files at the bottom

They were divided in their groups and then given the chance to open the mystery ingredients. I told them they could start and so it began.

They had a lot of fun making the food. Some people asked to use the blender, others wanted to use the stove. I was there to help accommodate and make sure nothing got broken. :)

Here were the final plates:

The final part was the judging round. I invited some of the young women turning 12 this year to be the judge. My husband ended up being a judge too since one of the girls couldn't make it. They were to give out 4 different prizes, 1 to each team.
Best Overall,
Most Creative
Best Tasting
and Best Appearance
I printed my little awards on regular paper and then taped them to a foam board and cut them out.
I gave the judges a whole bunch of forks so they didn't have to double dip in any plate. :)
I couldn't pass up my husband's face in this picture. Sums up the judging pretty good.

Overall, it was a great success! The girls absolutely loved it! If we did it again I think we will try a main dish.

Here are all the files we used for the decor, judging, etc. Feel free to use for yourself! Just right click each image and save it. Then you will be able to print them. Each picture is an 8.5x11 sheet of paper size. I'd love to hear how it went!

If you happen to have a larger group, here are some extra awards and another judging sheet! :)

Free Young Women Theme Printable

At the beginning of the year we decided to decorate our YW Room. I made this theme and displayed it in our room. It's now what we use every Sunday to recite our theme.

Feel free to save the picture, print it out, and use it in your room.

It was created as a 12x18 photo. I just sent it to Costco to have printed, but it could be printed at any print place.

Young Women Value Banner

We had an amazing girls camp this year! It was planned by the stake and the theme was "Get A Clue". The amazing stake leaders came up with a whole idea that turned out to be awesome! I only went up for the big dinner and testimony meeting since I had a baby a few months ago.
However, I did create a lot of decorations for it that I am happy to share. Our ward was given the player of Mrs. Peacock to use as inspiration. We came up with the theme "Show Your True Colors". We used purple and teal to coordinate everything together.

I made a few things, but don't have the pictures from it yet. I will post them when I do. I did make a value banner that we displayed at camp and then plan on displaying in our YW room.

If you'd like the file, just comment with your email and I will send you the PDF file. I am still learning how to make a PDF file (or google docs) available on my blog.

I just printed them on cardstock and then laminated them.
